Women's Ministries
.

Hello, Welcome to our webpage.  My name is Joyce Odidison and I am the women’s ministry leader at Henderson Highway Church for the 2009 -2010 church year.  I look forward to sharing, learning, working and praying with all the women in our community.

If you are a woman, who is a member at Henderson Highway or if you live in the East Kildonan community or belong to another church, we would love to have you join our events and activities.  Please see our calendar, which lists some of the events already scheduled for this year.  We would also love to hear from you and hope that you will feel free to send us your comments and thoughts of activities you would like to see.   You can keep following this website for information or read our blog here.

I look forward to an exciting year of serving you.

Book Club
–There were many good suggestions and it was hard to pick just one from the list.   For the month of October, the book club will have a unique format.  Read one of the following books and come prepared to share your thoughts about the book.  The list for October is:

Abandoned in Brandon--by Dr. Alanzo Smith
Abba's Child--by Brennan Manning
At Jesus' Feet--by Doug Batchelor
Mega Living--by Robin Sharma
The Pursuit of Happiness--by David Myers
The Shack--by William P. Young

If you have any book suggestions or would like to be part of the book club please e-mail me at

FUTURE EVENT IDEAS

Goals Setting Seminar – We hope to run a goal setting workshop for our women.  If there is enough interest, we may do The Passion Test at a later date.
Celebrating The Holidays Sharing – We also would like to have a simple holiday sharing suggestion event where the women can come out and share ideas, gift making and craft making tips.
Spring Retreat  - We are hoping to have a spring retreat and thoughts of the Mother’s Day weekend have been floating around.  I hope that you will share your thoughts and suggestions.

PAST EVENTS

Women's Breakfast--Our first event was held the morning of September 27 at a nearby Perkin's Restaurant.  There was a private room for the twenty of us who came together.  We spent time not only visiting and catching up, but also in planning for the future.  The women present had some fantastic ideas for events, activities and outreach for our local women's ministry.  We also spent time discussing false beliefs, ideas and concepts, and how damaging they can be to our lives and to the joy that God has intended for us to experience.  We were also encouraged to set a goal and start working towards its fulfillment, as we were only about 100 days away from the new year.  No need to wait to do something positive with our lives.  We hope to see more women at the next event.
